Jin Shin Jyutsu & Teate

The Path of the Body

"Jin Shin Jyutsu and Teate, "The Path of the Body", form the First Treasure of the Spiritual Energy Program “The Way of the Four Treasures.” It is followed by the Second Treasure, Naikan Japanese Instropective Practice.

Within the program, Jin Shin Jyutsu and Teate are not applied during sessions: their fundamentals are taught to enable daily, autonomous self-care practice. The transmission of Jin Shin Jyutsu/Teate lays the foundation for the following practices, preparing the individual physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually.

Techniques

"The Path of the Body" is based on two major pillars of Japanese tradition:

  • "Jin Shin Jyutsu" is an ancient art of energetic harmonization through touch. It involves gently placing the hands on specific points of the body, called "Safety Energy Locks," to release energy blockages and restore the circulation of Ki (vital energy).

  • "Teate", literally "placing the hands," is a form of gentle therapeutic touch, sometimes likened to a light massage, which amplifies the action of Jin Shin Jyutsu. Both techniques are accompanied by conscious breathing, promoting grounding and deep relaxation. Teate is an ancient Japanese practice founded on the simplicity of mindful touch. "Te" means "hand" and "Ate" means "to apply." Even before words, even before modern treatments, Japanese healers knew: a hand placed with kindness can soothe, harmonize, and revive vital energy. Teate reminds us that true healing begins with silent presence, offered from heart to heart.
