Transformative Approach to Emotional Release, Desensitization of Trauma through Alternating Movements (A.M.D.R.) emerges as an innovative method in psychotherapy, offering a powerful path to emotional release. With a strong foundation and solid base in psychology, hypnosis, and energy healing, A.M.D.R. draws inspiration from the E.M.D.R. technique to facilitate trauma integration. A.M.D.R. relies on the use of eye movements to help individuals process emotional traumas and reduce associated symptoms.
The goal of A.M.D.R., therefore, is to unlock all kinds of “wounds” or “blockages,” most often generated by trauma (but not exclusively). These issues can manifest in various ways: pain, burnout, nightmares, anxiety, addictions, emotional shock, depression, harassment, illness, lack of self-confidence or self-esteem, aggression, etc. The principle of A.M.D.R., inspired by E.M.D.R., is to enable the brain to process traumatic information that may be “frozen.”
These experiences tend to repeat or manifest again in the individual’s reality, as if they have not been “digested.” The goal is to process and categorize them so that they cease to threaten the person’s balance. Supported by hypnosis and energy healing, A.M.D.R. techniques address the entirety of the individual, offering the benefits of a “holistic” therapy. A.M.D.R. sessions cater to the physical, mental, neurological, psychological, emotional, and sentimental spheres. A.M.D.R. sessions are not ongoing therapeutic follow-ups but rather targeted interventions related to traumatic origins, whether in the past or more recent.
Like hypnosis, and unlike psychotherapy, a defined number of sessions is proposed to resolve a specific issue. This is particularly applicable to phobias and addictions. I also use A.M.D.R.. techniques as one of many tools to support personal and professional development or within coaching programs.
The AMDR approach I offer here combines techniques from E.M.D.R. with other methods derived from Ericksonian hypnosis. These techniques are often described as fostering “letting go.” This presentation explores the fundamental principles of AMDR, its process, its benefits, and its harmonious integration into holistic therapeutic journeys.
