Support & Guidance

What is Supportive Counseling, Support & Guidance?

Inspired by Carl Rogers, Supportive Counseling is a psychological and social accompaniment widely used in the context of personal development. It aims to utilize the interactions between the therapist (“The Helper”) and the person being helped (“The Helpee”) to better understand and overcome daily difficulties, grief, sorrow, illness, or any other emotional crisis.

In my psychoenergetic practice, this holistic approach is characterized by a combination of psychological, spiritual, energetic, and educational interventions. It is designed for anyone facing common challenges. This approach helps to build confidence and self-esteem, thereby contributing to the person’s emotional balance.

Session Structure for Supportive Counseling, Support & Guidance

The practice of Supportive Counseling, Support, and Guidance relies on active listening, neutrality, and non-judgment. Sessions are conducted in the form of non-directive interviews during which the counseling therapist listens and encourages the client to explore and find their own answers.

Interventions in Supportive Counseling, Support & Guidance

Sessions of Supportive Counseling, Support, and Guidance revolve around different types of interventions:

Support & Counseling Intervention Session(s): Regular or occasional counseling conversations to identify and become aware of the impact of personal difficulties across various areas of daily life; reflections and exploration of solutions.

Guidance Intervention Session(s): Monitoring and consolidating personal gains and adaptation strategies. Intervention assessment.

Couple Support, Counseling & Guidance Session(s): Promoting family well-being through improved communication. Educational and psychological suggestions for couples.

• Psychological Education Session(s): Sharing of information and techniques to enhance autonomy and prevent psychoenergetic and spiritual well-being issues.

Applications of Supportive Counseling, Support & Guidance

This guidance helps overcome challenges such as stress, life changes, relationship or professional issues, as well as personal crises. It is accessible to anyone, including children, adolescents, and families, who are experiencing difficult times without presenting severe psychological disorders.

Frequency - Duration

In general, sessions vary in frequency and format. They are adapted to the client’s needs according to the therapist’s method of working: in-person at the office in Cannes, or, to promote flexibility and availability, via videoconference (Meet, Zoom). The client can discontinue the meetings at any time without needing to provide justification.

Distinctions from Other Forms of Support

Unlike psychotherapy or coaching, supportive counseling does not aim to treat deep psychological disorders or achieve specific performance goals. It focuses on immediate well-being without seeking to alter the individual’s psychological structure. For more serious issues, a referral to mental health professionals is necessary. (1)

(1): In some cases, it may happen that the request, need, or situation of the client goes beyond the scope of my relational and/or energetic support activities. In such cases, I would recommend the client consult a mental health professional: psychiatrist, psychologist, psychotherapist, or any other general practitioner or specialist in conventional medicine.
